Mekong Lounge is the signature bar on Level 49 of Shangri-La Phnom Penh, one floor above Kommune. It takes the panoramic Mekong view and a discreet neo-classical room and builds a cocktail programme on local ingredients such as pandan, hibiscus and Cambodian spirits, and a daily happy hour makes an otherwise premium address more approachable.
The whisky list is a highlight, with a deep run of Japanese, Taiwanese and Scotch expressions, many rare. The all-day food menu mixes Khmer, Chinese and Western snacks and comfort dishes, from salads and fried bites to sandwiches and noodle soup, and the lobby sweets lean towards traditional Chinese desserts.
